PE uniforms can be purchased at Eich’s sporting goods store, OR from the Indian Trail PTO during Locker Move in on August 9th.  Shirts will be $8, and shorts will be $11.  They will also have locker accessories and limited spirit wear on sale.  PLEASE JOIN PTO and support our Indian Trail students and activities.  IT’S ONLY $10 to join!

Computers – All returning Plainfield 202 students have been issued a Google Chromebook and charger new last year. They were checked out to your student which they kept over the summer. We would advise you and your student to charge their laptops, start it up, and install any updates that may have been pushed out over the summer. If for some reason your computer is damaged, you must contact our technology department at 815-577-4344. Any damages to laptops or lost chargers will be charged to the student’s account.  If you are new to Plainfield Schools, Indian Trail will be checking out a laptop to your student the first week of school.

Buses – Bus routes will be visible on Home Access Center prior to the start of the school year. Students will be assigned a seat on the bus, where they are required to sit daily.

Arrival to School – Bus riders – Enter through our main entrance (Door A) and wait in the foyer until the bell rings at 7:40AM.

Car riders – Drop off is the lane along Eastern Ave. Please do not enter the driveway/parking lot.  Please make sure you are pulling up as far as possible in the drop off lane, DO NOT stop at the sidewalk closest to the Walker Entrance Door. Car Riders and Walkers enter through Door G which will be open at 7:40AM.

If you are late for school, report to the front desk in the foyer, and you will be issued a tardy pass to class.

Tardy to Class – Our passing periods will be three minutes long instead of four.  Once students become familiar with their schedule, they are expected to be on time for their classes, including lunch and PE. We will follow the adopted TARDY POLICY for the middle school level.

Locker Usage – All students have a locker assigned to them. During locker move-in, help devise a plan of when they should return to their locker to drop-off/retrieve items. Backpacks are NOT permitted during the school day.

Bathrooms – All middle schools will continue to use E-Hallpass software for passes. Students will request to use the bathroom/drink/office through the software. All classrooms are assigned a specific bathroom the student must go to. This will help with some of the wandering and behaviors we have seen in recent years.

Cameras - With school safety being a continued priority for District 202, all PSD 202 middle schools had cameras installed throughout the building.  The Indian Trail Administration will use these cameras to monitor and review student behavior to the best of our ability, helping to keep all Indian Trail students safe.

Dress Code - The dress code policy for all middle schools was updated last year to include the following:

- Clothing must effectively cover the student’s torso. Shirts must touch the waistline.

- Shorts and skirts must be of a length that assures appropriate coverage for students.

Please keep these in mind as you prepare your students for the start of school. To review the entire Dress Code Policy - CLICK HERE.

Cell Phones/Airpods –  This is our second year implementing our Electronic Device Policy.   We strongly encourage you to review the policy with your student.  Students may NOT have their cell phones and airpods out during the school day. They should be put away in their locker. All confiscated electronics will be sent to the office and communication will be sent to parents through our office clerk.  This may result in you having to come pick up your student’s phone.

Breakfast -  Indian Trail has qualified for free breakfast for all students.  Breakfast will be available in the mornings for students.  After picking up breakfast students will need to go to their study hall class to eat it and finish prior to the first bell ringing. Seating will not be available in the cafeteria. They are responsible for cleaning up after themselves.

Lunches - Students will be able to choose their seat in their lunch.  Indian Trail has qualified for free lunch for all students.  We will be offering extra ala carte items (chips, treats, ice cream). These items are NOT included with free lunch and students will have to pay for them.  Please visit MySchoolBucks to set up your account or add money for your student.  As a reminder, if ala carte items are available, they will not be allowed to purchase extras if they have a negative balance on MySchoolBucks.  Lastly for both parents and students, food delivery for lunches of any kind (DoorDash, UberEats) is not allowed.

Athletics and Clubs - All sports and clubs are scheduled to be available for students. CLICK HERE for club and activity listings (exact days and times will be available soon).   More specific tryout information for fall sports coming soon.If your student is interested in trying out for a sport, all 7th and 8th graders will need a sports physical and concussion form on file BEFORE they tryout.  Students will not be allowed to try out if they are missing.

Due to the continued shortage of charter drivers, transportation to/from MS athletic meets will NOT be available for the 25-26 school year.  It is the District's intention to closely monitor this situation, and make necessary changes when applicable.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Visitors to Building - For security reasons, we continue to keep visitors to a minimum.  New this year is our double buzz in entrance. You will be buzzed in the first set of doors, and then you will proceed into the vestibule and ring the bell again to be buzzed in the second set of doors.  If you are dropping something off for your student, there is a drop-off table directly inside the main entrance. Please have your student’s name displayed so we can deliver it.  If you are picking up your student from school, please report directly to the main office and be prepared to show an ID upon request.

Community Events - One of our primary focuses this year is to host more events that will invite family and the community into our school and events.   Later in the fall, we would like to try and role out our Big Cats Corps parent volunteer program.  Parents will have the opportunity to come in to greet students, hang out during lunches, and be positive role models and extra sets of eyes in the halls. (volunteers will NOT be addressing behavior, they are just an added presence).  More details to come on this new program.
